ABOUT
Meet Biz and learn about their approach to body tending
Hello, I’m Biz
I first started massaging intuitively as a child, trading sessions with my siblings to ‘get rid of the knots’ in our shoulders. This early curiosity has evolved into a bodywork practice centred on care, trust, and deep listening. My approach is trauma-informed and consent-led, recognising how much is stored in our bodies, that bodywork is vulnerable, and that safety is cultivated over time.
I am a queer person with chronic conditions and I am intimately familiar with the weight of chronic stress. I have spent much of my life unlearning tension and bracing habits, an ongoing process – life’s work :).
My own reconnection with body wisdom comes through receiving bodywork, practicing politicised Somatics (Generative Somatics), Focusing practice, singing, grief-tending, swimming in the sea. I continue to learn daily and reshape myself, understanding that healing is a continual unfolding rather than a place to reach.
I am neurodivergent-aware and inclusive, creating space where those pushed to the margins are centred. I bring my lived and evolving experience to each session. I acknowledge the unique history each person carries and remain open and committed to listening and learning. My professional training is outlined below.

Lineage & teachers
My practice is held within a living lineage of somatic care, social justice, and communal grief tending. It begins with an intuitive relationship to touch that has been present since childhood, later formalised through my ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Full Body Massage (2023), which grounded me in Holistic Massage, Swedish techniques, and anatomy.
From this foundation, I am currently deepening my clinical skills, studying an Advanced Clinical Massage Diploma at the Jing Institute (Meghan Mari and Rachel Fairweather). This training includes techniques and influences from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)—meridians, acupressure, amma—myofascial release, and trigger-point therapy rooted in the work of Dr. Janet Travell. I also trained at the London Centre of Indian Champissage International, set up by Narendra Mehta MBE, who brought Ayurvedic head massage (champi) to the UK in the 1970s after noticing Western therapies left out the head.
My approach to the nervous system is informed by Generative Somatics (Staci Haines) Healing Justice London (Farzana Khan) and Focusing Skills and Practitioner training (Peter Gill), developed by Eugene Gendlin. I am influenced by Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges), Somatic Experiencing (Peter Levine), trauma physiology (Gabor Maté), and Disability Justice frameworks (Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha).
My capacity to hold space for grief and community healing comes from my experiences within communities over the years. This led me to take part in an Apprenticeship to Grief Tending in Community, facilitated by teachers (Sophy Banks, Jeremy Thres, Aama Sade Shepniki, and Dita Vizoso) taught by Maeve Gavin, who learned directly from Sobonfu Somé and Malidoma Somé of the Dagara people in Burkina Faso. I am also influenced by the writing and practises of Francis Weller and Joanna Macy.
I send deep gratitude to those who nurtured and passed on these practices, and keep them alive today. I send gratitude to the many friends, teachers and allies along the way that I have learned, laughed, built, and grieved with.
I carry these teachings with a commitment to accessibility, bodily autonomy and collective liberation.
